目前 ， 在实际生产中 ， 人类已经可以用天然脱壳激素处理螃蟹 ， 再在氢氧化钙溶液中浸泡 ， 为螃蟹提供钙质促使其脱壳；当螃蟹脱壳后 ， 立刻将外壳尚未硬化的螃蟹迅速冷冻或直接烹饪 。 此时 ， 螃蟹外壳的硬度只有平常的三分之一 ， 稍微煎炸即可像油炸大虾一样食用 。
在西班牙和威尼斯 ， 油炸软壳蟹是当地的特色美食 ， 在日本 ， 软壳蟹被用来制作寿司 ， 而同样生活在日本的北太平洋巨型章鱼则会将捕捉的螃蟹吸在吸盘上随身携带 ， 什么时候馋了 ， 就吃一个盒装外卖 。 面对这些能够无视坚硬甲壳的狡猾敌人 ， 螃蟹毫无反抗能力 ， 只能束手就擒 。 没办法 ， 谁让它们太美味了呢……
